Andrea Quiroz

Veterinary Assistant Supervisor

Education: DePaul University

I have been working in the veterinary field for the past 19 years. I began working at my first veterinary clinic as a kennel assistant. I was then trained as a veterinary assistant, worked as a receptionist, and then trained as a veterinary technician.

I graduated from DePaul University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. I worked full-time as a veterinary technician while attending college. I have been with TLC First Animal Hospital since April 2009 and absolutely love working here! I especially love that we are a close-knit bunch and truly like a family. I have a distinctive talent for laboratory work including fecal and urine analyses, blood differentials, and skin cytologies. I even have the nickname of the “poop queen.” In early 2012 I was promoted to Veterinary Technician Supervisor and I love all the new challenges.

When I’m not working with my furry friends, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Andres, and our 4 year old daughter Marisol. In my free time (which isn’t much!) I enjoy doing any sort of aquatic activities, crafting and going to museums and the zoo with my family. One of my passions is cooking and baking and I also like to enter my recipes into cooking contests (I’ve been published several times and even won $100!) I currently have 2 bearded dragons and an ancient red-eared slider turtle residing at home. I am hoping to add an Autism assistance dog for my daughter in the near future.
